Our programming and philosophy is based on industry best practices and 30 years of experience. Research shows that a strategic, all-encompassing program improves employee health and helps employers manage their bottom line. Using seven key components of our comprehensive approach we can help improve productivity, decrease absenteeism, increase morale and ultimately your return on investment. The core areas that we have built our programming model include: assessment, awareness, population-based programs, targeted programs, the culture and environment, relapse prevention and evaluation. With this model we have built sustainable programs with positive outcomes.

Success story:

In the summer of 2008, a HealthSource Solutions client offered to all employees a typical eight-week physical activity campaign using pedometers to track daily steps. One employee of the company who participated was so motivated by the program that she has continued to wear her pedometer every day since the program ended and marks down her daily steps every night. From the start of the program in June of 2008 until March of 2009, she lost 35 pounds and competed in a month-long Ironman event at her gym. She continues to participate in all the physical activity campaigns her company offers.

Testimonial:

Joe works for a company that uses HealthSource Solutions for their employee health promotion. He says the following:

"After hearing ‘not so good’ numbers from our employee health screening, I quickly tried to downplay the results. By the time I reached home that afternoon, I had already pictured myself multiple times on the way to the hospital because I ignored the warnings. I knew at that moment something had to change, and I was going to do it… The secret to improving your health is there are no shortcuts. I have followed a simple plan of low fat foods. Even though my incentive was to improve my cholesterol ratio, I started to feel my clothing becoming looser. I started weighing myself regularly and it was amazing to me and my wife how the pounds started to melt off. I continued to lose weight until late July and I seemed to hit a plateau, but I had already lost nearly 30 pounds from my heaviest weight.

This is when my company offered "Every Step Counts." To this point I had not made any significant changes to my physical activity. I put on the pedometer and started to walk. At first I was taking 2500 step walks in the morning before work and finding some time to ride my bike with the kids and my wife. Soon I found myself walking behind the push mower and leaving the rider with the nice cup holder in the garage. I was soon pushing myself farther and farther on my walks and riding longer and harder on the stationary bike. Other members of my family wanted to know how many steps a day they were doing. I bought two more pedometers.

My next venture is to add more resistance training into the mix and likely back off a little bit from the 20,000+ steps and work on shorter more intense activities.

Thank you for making me accountable to myself."
